It was a struggle in league action a year ago for Queretaro but they salvaged their season by winning Copa MX. Tiago Volpi was outstanding last season but he was one of the only good performers for the squad. Queretaro did play better under Jaime Lozano last season but it could be very difficult for him this year, as the team did very little in the transfer window. Goal scoring could be difficult this season for the club, as they were last in shots in Liga MX last season in Clausura. Queretaro faces a difficult 2017-2018, especially without Neri Cardozo who went back to Monterrey. It will be interesting to see if Camilo Sanvezzo can continue his goal scoring without Cardozo setting him up.

Queretaro Mexican Liga MX Odds

Queretaro is not a threat to any of the top teams in Liga MX. The question is whether or not Queretaro is a relegation candidate. It seems unlikely, as the club still has some talented players, but the margin for error is definitely small heading into 2017-2018.

Queretaro 2017-18 Predictions

Last season the club finished 11th in Apertura and 15th in Clausura. There is no reason to think things will be different in 2017-2018. The addition of defender Alexis Pérez could be a good one but he needs more experience. Javier Guemez looked good with Tijuana so perhaps he can make an impact. Someone will need to step up because the team will miss Cardozo who led the league in assists last season.

The good news for Queretaro is that they have Tiago Volpi in goal and he is considered by many to be the top keeper in the league. The team also has Camilo Sanvezzo who is one of the top strikers in the league. The problem is that there is not much in between. Yerson Candelo needs to be a lot better in the middle and give Sanvezzo more chances.

Queretaro has all the looks of a mid-table team heading into 2017-2018. That is actually pretty sad considering the club has one of the top goal keepers in the league in Volpi and a very good striker in Sanvezzo. The team simply doesn’t have enough supporting players. They are weak in the midfield and they have almost no depth.

The most likely scenario for Queretaro has them finishing just outside of the top 10 this season. It would be a major coup if the team could challenge for the playoffs, but based on their current roster, it seems unlikely. The one positive is that the team should be in no relegation danger as long as Volpi and Sanvezzo stay healthy.
