Necaxa will enter the 2017-2018 season with a new manager, as gone is Alfonso Sosa who led the team to promotion and then to a semifinal appearance in last year’s Apertura. His defensive system worked, but it wasn’t exciting and ownership decided to go in another direction. Taking over this season is Nacho Ambriz and he may have a tough time duplicating the success that Sosa had. Ambriz had previously managed at America, but he was sacked in September of last season.
Necaxa Mexican Liga MX Odds
It is hard to know what to expect from Necaxa in 2017-2018. They have a new manager and he will want to put in a new system with players that may not fit his style. Will we see Luis Gallego and Dieter Villalpando get room to operate? Will Jesus Isijara stay in the starting lineup? Those are just two of the many questions that will be answered this season.

Necaxa 2017-18 Predictions
How long will it take for the players to adjust to the new system of Ambriz? This is a team that was built on defense and now they are expected to play a more exciting style of football. It may not be an easy transition, as Necaxa doesn’t have many great scoring options. We don’t even know who will start up front, as it could be Pablo Velázquez, Carlos González, Martín Barragan or Claudio Riano.
Necaxa didn’t score a lot of goals last season but they were bailed out on a regular basis by Puch, and he is now gone. Will players like Daniel Alvarez and Martin Barragan be able to pick up the slack? Will former Huachipato striker Carlos Gonzalez show he is a capable scorer?
The good news for Necaxa is that they have one of the top goal keepers in the league in Marcelo Barovero so they may not need to score a ton of goals. They may be able to take a little time to adjust to the new system of Ambriz but until they do they can fall back on last year’s defense and the goal keeping of Barovero.
Necaxa is one of the toughest teams to predict for 2017-2018. They were a mid-level team a year ago that played great defense and counter attacked. We really don’t know what they will be like this season. It could be we see a defensive style in Apertura and then when Ambriz gets his system in place; the team may open things up in Clausura.
