It is hard to know what to expect from Lobos this season. They have some experienced players who have Liga MX experience in Francisco “Maza” Rodríguez, Juan Carlos Medina and Carlos Adrián Morales and they have some good young talent in Alfonso Tamay, Julián Quinones and Pedro Aquino.
The addition of Luis Quinones definitely looks like a good one, as he did well with Pumas and just couldn’t get into the lineup with Tigres. Striker Diego Jiménez is proven scorer in Ascenso and he might just be able to continue the success in Liga MX.
There is no question that Lobos will enter the 2017-2018 as a team that is expected to be in relegation danger. That doesn’t mean there is not hope for this team, as they made a number of good off-season moves and they have plenty of experience. Oftentimes when you look at a team that could be in relegation danger you look for a team on the way down. That does not appear to be the case with Lobos, as they have a good manager, some good young talent and plenty of experience.
Lobos is not a title contender but they could be a surprise team in Liga MX this season. They are going to be overlooked by many people this season simply because they are the new kid on the block. Lobos may not be the pushover that everyone thinks, as they have the scoring to threaten many of the teams in Liga MX and they are well managed.
The most likely scenario for Lobos this season has them finishing in the lower half of the table, but there is a good chance the team can avoid relegation and that would be considered a successful season for the club in 2017-2018.
