Tottenham surprised a lot of people a year ago, as they finished 2nd to Chelsea in the Premier League and gave the Blues a run for the top spot for a long while. The Spurs face a tough task in replicating that success, as they did nothing in the off-season to improve their club while the other top teams, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United all made moves. Can a team do nothing in transfers and expect to contend for a title in the Premier League? It seems unlikely and oddsmakers have taken notice, as they put the point total for the Spurs for the 2017-2018 season at 74.5. That would be a 12-point drop for Tottenham from last season. Spurs are still given a good chance to finish in the Top 4, although it is not a given, with the odds listed at -150.
Tottenham Premier League Futures Odds
Odds To Win Premier League: +1000
Odds To Finish Top 4: -150
Total Points Over/Under: 74.5
Spurs finished last season with 86 points, good for 2nd in the Premier League. Virtually everything went right for Spurs last season and it is almost a given that won’t be the case in 2016-2017, especially since they have to play their home games at Wembley while their new stadium is finished. The team simply hasn’t spent any money on bringing in new players and defender Danny Rose is not happy. "Time is running out and I do want to win trophies. I don't want to play football for 15 years and not have one trophy or one medal.” Rose said to ESPN. He added that the team needs to sign big name players. "not players you have to Google and say, 'Who's that?' I mean well-known players.''

What's New?
Good luck to manager Mauricio Pochettino who doesn’t have any newcomers to rely upon. Owner Daniel Levy hasn’t given Pochettino the freedom to land a marquee player.
Pochettino has tried to sound positive about the lack of signings, as he said to ESPN. "We need players who can challenge our starting XI, players who believe in themselves and think: 'OK, I can challenge Dele Alli, I can challenge Harry Kane.’ You cannot guarantee that they [new signings] will play, but you can guarantee the tools to challenge our current players. If they are better and they deserve to play, they will play."
Pochettino said that the Spurs will find the right players and that his team is prepared for what is to come. "We have many challenges ahead, including playing at Wembley but we are ready to compete on Sunday at Newcastle."
What's Gone?
Tottenham suffered a major loss, losing Kyle Walker to Manchester City. They also lost Federico Fazio to Roma, Clinton N’Jie to Marseille, Luke McGee to Portsmouth and Filip Lesniak to Aalborg.
Tottenham 2017-18 Predictions
How will Tottenham do playing at Wembley instead of their home stadium? It may not be easy, as the Spurs won’t have the huge home crowd edge they are used to. Manager Mauricio Pochettino has his work cut out for him this season. He also has to deal with the added pressure of playing in the Champions League which will wear down his club.
Pochettino said that he feels the pressure to win. “Right, now (I hear) we need to win some trophies, no?” he said to The Guardian. “That is good, the pressure. I think it’s important to understand now that we need to be clever how we manage the expectation and how we need to put pressure on our own players. We understand that Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, (Eric) Dier, (Toby) Alderweireld are really good players. They want to win but need to feel the pressure a little bit to improve every season.”
Everything went right for Tottenham last season and it is almost a given that Spurs will run into trouble this season. Oddsmakers definitely think Spurs are going to suffer a major drop this season and getting a Top 4 finish is definitely not a guarantee. The most likely scenario for Tottenham has them finishing outside of the Top 4 and missing out on a Champions League spot.
