One of the teams that had the most turnover in the off-season is Everton, as gone are Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley who combined to score 30 goals and in are Wayne Rooney, Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane, just to name a few. The question with Everton is whether they did enough to make a run at a Top 4 spot. It seems unlikely considering the Toffees finished 15 points out of the Top 4 last season. Oddsmakers don’t think Everton is going to contend for a Top 4 spot this season, as they are listed with odds of +900. Everton is not expected to be as good as they were a year ago, as their point total is set at 59.5. Everton has not won a trophy since taking the FA Cup in 2005 and they have not won the league since 1987.
Everton Premier League Futures Odds
Odds To Win Premier League: +6600
Odds To Finish Top 4: +900
Total Points Over/Under: 59.5
The Toffees are not a serious threat to win the Premier League, as they are listed at odds of +6600. To give you an idea of just how long those odds are, they are the same odds as the field. Everton simply doesn’t have enough talent to compete with Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool. The question is whether they fall out of the upper half of the table for the 2016-2017 season.

What's New?
The Toffee’s added Jordan Pickford from Sunderland, Michael Keane from Burnley, Davy Klaassen from Ajax, Henry Onyekuru from Eupen, Sandro Ramirez from Malaga, Wayne Rooney from Manchester United, Anton Donkor from Wolfsburg, Josh Bowler from QPR, Cuco Martina from Southampton and Lewis Gibson from Newcastle. As of this writing the team had not yet gotten midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea City, but all indications are that they will get him.
Much of the focus has been on the addition of Rooney and he is excited to play for the Toffees. "I've kept it quiet for the last 13 years, but I've actually been wearing Everton pajamas at home with my kids," he said on ESPN. "I had to keep that a bit quiet. [Wearing the Everton shirt] feels as special as it did 13 years ago and I'm just looking forward now to getting out on the pitch with it on."
What's Gone?
It is a laundry list of players who are out, led by Romelu Lukaku who went to Manchester United. Also gone are Gerard Deulofeu to Barcelona, Tom Cleverley to Watford, Henry Onyekuru on loan to Anderlecht, Tyias Browning on loan to Sunderland, Brendan Galloway on loan to Sunderland, Aiden McGeady to Sunderland, Arouna Kone to Sivasspor and Matthew Pennington on loan to Leeds United.
Everton 2017-18 Predictions
Everton is a tough team to predict, as they have enough talent to contend for a top 4 spot if everything goes right. The Toffees were decent last season in their first one under Ronald Koeman and they could be improved if they get production from Rooney and Sandro. They also need Klaassen to adjust to the Premier League. He was the captain at Ajax and he has ability but he will face a lot more pressure at Everton than he did at Ajax.
Koeman is really focused on having success in the Europa League and he is not ruling out a run at a Top 4 finish in the Premier League. It won’t be easy to replace Lukaku but Rooney has looked good in the preseason and Sandro was a steal.
Oddsmakers don’t have a high opinion of Everton, as their point total was set at 59.5 and that seems low considering the Toffees finished with 61 points last season. There is no question that oddsmakers are reacting to the loss of Lukaku but Everton didn’t sit still in the off-season, as they were very active. Lukaku won’t be replaced by a single player but the Toffees have enough talent to pick up the slack.
Everton may not have quite enough to finish in the Top 4 but they could get close enough to make it interesting in the final weeks of the season.
