Burnley has no chance to win the Premier League so the focus is on whether or not they will be relegated. The Clarets finished with 40 points last season, six clear of the relegation zone. They thrived at home, as they were 10-6 at home with three draws. It may be difficult to duplicate that home success in 2017-2018, so the team will need to play better away from home where they picked up just one win.
Burnley scored the fewest goals of any teams that survived last season in the Premier League with 39, but they allowed fewer goals than any team in the bottom half of the league, as they allowed just 55 goals.

The Clarets added Jon Walters from Stoke, Charlie Taylor from Leeds and Jack Cork and Phil Bardsley from Swansea. Cork and Walters are veterans who have played more than 400 games between them. Cork should be a good signing, as he figures to start in the midfield and Walters should also see a lot of playing time.

The Clarets lost Michael Keane who went to Everton. They also released Joey Barton, let George Boyd go to Sheffield and Paul Robinson retired. The big loss is Keane who was sold to Everton for £25 million. His loss leaves a major hole on defense. The losses of Boyd and Barton also don’t help, but Keane is the man who will be tough to replace.
Burnley 2017-18 Predictions
Burnley surprised a lot of people last season but they won’t go unnoticed this time around. Head coach Sean Dyche said recently that his team is still adjusting to the Premier League. “I still think we need that extra bit of experience within the group. I thought we needed that all along, even though this will be my third Premier League season.”
Dyche is smart enough to realize that his team is probably in for a relegation fight this season. They simply don’t score enough goals to get any easy wins. Their tandem of Andre Gray and Sam Vokes combined to score 19 goals last season. Burnley played really good defense last season and that meant they could win games 1-0 or 2-1, especially at home. That may not happen this season, especially with Keane now in Everton. It will also be very difficult for Burnley to repeat what they did at home, where they got 33 of their 40 points.
I think there may be some value on taking Burnley to get relegated at odds of +126. Oddsmakers are telling us right from the start that Burnley is going to struggle, as they set the point’s total at 34.5. Last year it was Hull getting relegated with 34 points, so Burnley is expected to be right on the cut line for the 2017-2018 season.
